Living a heart-forward life/A Guided Meditation
- Katie Danaher
Everywhere you look, the world is undergoing rapid changes. Events are shifting so quickly or unexpectedly, it may be exhausting to keep up. Add in the general stress of everyday life, and overwhelm or anxiety can take over.
Do you feel this?
It can feel like you have no control and are powerless.
And that can be scary.
There is an antidote - living from your heart first. This is the place where you hold truth and power. If you're already doing this, great, go deeper. If not, what does this mean?
It means responding from your heart, not reacting with your mind. Your mind will over-analyze, label and judge, replay old stories, and keep you stuck.
Slowing down, grounding, feeling, centering, reflecting, being in the present moment, this is how we cultivate inner calm and peace, regardless of events. This is how we soften and respond appropriately in difficult situations.
This is how we raise our energetic vibration.
This is what we share with the world.
Try this 5-Minute Guided Meditation: Returning to the Heart
Step #1. Arrival (1 minute)
Begin by finding a comfortable seat or lying down. Close your eyes if that feels safe. Let your body soften just a little.
Take a deep breath in through your nose… and exhale slowly through your mouth.
Again, a breath in… and gently out.Allow your awareness to drop from your head… down into your body… and begin to notice the rhythm of your breath.
Step #2. Heart Awareness (1 minute)
Bring your attention now to the center of your chest, the space of your heart.
You might place a hand there to anchor your awareness.
Feel into the warmth, the aliveness, the quiet intelligence that lives here.
This is not the mind’s domain. This is the home of compassion, of feeling, of truth.Step #3. The Difference Between Reacting and Responding (1 minute)
Begin to notice any emotions or sensations that are present in the heart space, without judgment, just noticing.
When we live from the mind, we often react quickly, defensively, habitually.
But when we pause and drop into the heart, we respond with presence, care, and depth.
Allow yourself to rest here in the heart, and just feel.Step #4. Anchoring the Heart’s Wisdom (1 minute)
Now gently ask your heart:
What do you want me to know right now?
Wait without expectation. Simply notice what arises, perhaps an image, a word, a sensation.
Even if it’s quiet, trust that the heart is always speaking.Step #5. Closing and Integration (1 minute)
Take a few deeper breaths now, letting the breath gently expand the heart space.
Affirm softly, if you wish:
“I choose to respond from my heart. I trust its wisdom.”
When you’re ready, gently open your eyes, bringing this softness and awareness into the rest of your day.
