Do You Know What Your Super Powers Are?

  • Katie Danaher

Do you know what your Super Powers Are? The gifts you were naturally born with can be the very part of ourselves we struggle to accept.

What I'm calling super powers are the gifts you were naturally born with. But here's the catch: sometimes these very gifts are also the parts of ourselves we can struggle to accept.

 For example:

The same intensity that drives an ambitious person to achieve remarkable things can make them restless and unable to enjoy the present moment.

The empathy that allows someone to deeply understand others' pain can leave them emotionally drained, or absorbing wounds that aren't theirs to carry.

Do you spend energy amplifying your strengths while also being frustrated by that same part you see as flaws?

Rather than battling with ourselves, there's freedom in accepting that our gifts and our struggles are inseparable, two sides of the same coin. Gently embracing every part of ourselves is essential, particularly when we face distress or emotional turmoil. In these moments, recalling that our superpowers make us whole and complete can prevent us from spiraling out of control.

The person who hates their own perfectionism can recognize it's the same force that allows them to create beautiful, meaningful work.

The one frustrated by their sensitivity can see it's also their path for authenticity and connection.

We can learn to navigate both sides with wisdom and loving compassion - by grounding, anchoring and staying connected to our center. Rooting here allows us to channel our intensity when needed and to release it when it no longer serves us, or harness our empathy without losing ourselves.

So, what are your Super Powers?
